Downstream Visual Descriptions:


Gas processing plant processes natural gas into ethane, methane, butane, and other natural gas liquids. (It's small, has vertical fractionator)

Oil refinery processes crude oil into transportation fuel. It's going to be referred to as a plant or facility. (Has a huge cat cracker, coker units, & crude unit)

Petrochemical plant or facility processes natural gas into chemicals such as polyethylene , ammonia, etc. (hard to tell, no cracker or coker unit, generally has a tank farm)

Upgrader/Heavy Oil Upgrade processes bitumen from tar sands into syncrude sent via pipeline to an oil refinery. Coke is a by product and is used as burn fuel for power generation -- it's used internationally by electric generation plants that are not restricted by US EPA clean air standards
